ROG G700 Review: Powerful 1440p Gaming Without the Hassle of Building a PC

ROG G700 is a gaming desktop, giving users a way to get a powerful PC without building one from scratch. This particular configuration comes with Intel’s Core Ultra 7 265KF CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card along with 32GB of DDR5 memory and 2TB of PCIe 4.0 storage.

The ROG G700 is a high-performance system with a top-end processor and graphics card that can run modern AAA games and handle demanding workloads like content creation. In this review we will see how it performs and what are the take away of this desktop computer.

The Design

ROG G700 Internals

The ROG G700 is a typical gaming desktop approach, with a chassis designed to house powerful hardware and sticking to the distinct ROG look.

The ROG G700 has a glass panel on the front panel with a “G7” mark in the lower right corner. Both sides of the front panel feature large intake vents to feed the front-mounted fans. This gives the front of the system a more aggressive gaming look, while also allowing airflow to the internal components.

The PSU shroud is adorned with RGB lighting, with additional ROG branding. The lighting is quite suitable for the gaming look, but there is a fair amount of branding and visual elements all over the chassis. I think the PSU shroud could have been a little more restrained, because to me, the combination of RGB lighting and multiple wordings makes the design feel somewhat busy.

One of the perks of buying a prebuilt gaming desktop, such as the ROG G700, is convenience. The system comes pre-built and ready to use, so you don’t have to choose separate parts, verify compatibility, build it, and work out cable management.

Connectivity on the front panel includes one USB-C port, two USB-A ports, a microphone jack, and a headphone jack, so you’ll be able to quickly connect your most-used peripherals.

In the rear I/O we find a USB 20Gbps Type-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode, a single USB 10Gbps Type-A port, four USB 5Gbps Type-A ports, and four USB 2.0 Type-A ports, and a DisplayPort 1.4 output. You also get Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi antenna connectors and three audio jacks.

The ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5070 Ti has three DisplayPort outputs and one HDMI port for graphics, so you have plenty of options for connecting multiple displays.

The Performance

The biggest selling point of this configuration is its combination of Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF and GeForce RTX 5070 Ti from NVIDIA.

With 20 cores and 20 threads, the Core Ultra 7 265KF delivers a lot of processing power for gaming, multitasking, and demanding applications. It also goes well with a high-end graphics card such as the RTX 5070 Ti and 32GB of DDR5 memory.

ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5070 Ti features 16GB GDDR7 memory, enough VRAM for today’s games. It also supports NVIDIA’s DLSS technologies, ray tracing and Multi Frame Generation, which can help boost gaming performance in supported games.

This configuration is particularly well suited for 1440p gaming. With the right settings, it also has the hardware needed to target 4K gaming, although demanding titles may require technologies such as DLSS and Frame Generation to maintain higher frame rates.

Benchmark and Gaming Performance

For our testing, we ran a mix of synthetic and gaming benchmarks to give us a better idea of its overall performance.

The system managed an impressive 34,683 points in the Cinebench R23 multi-core test, beating out even the Intel Core i9-14900F and the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D in our testing.

We got to see how the RTX 5070 Ti performs in the 3DMark benchmarks. Of course, it has more than enough performance to enjoy current AAA games at high settings, with plenty of headroom for upcoming titles in the next few years. The CPU and GPU temps also stayed under 70°C during testing.

When it came to actual gaming, we saw impressive results across titles such as Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Cyberpunk 2077 and Valorant, all tested at max settings. The high frame rates gave us confidence that this system can handle today’s demanding games while still having enough performance to keep up with upcoming titles in the next few years at 1440p but it struggles a bit when you go for a 4K resolution that requires you to downgrade some games’ graphics settings to have a better and more consistent FPS.

Final Thoughts

The ROG G700 is a powerful gaming desktop that combines high-performance hardware with a distinctive ROG aesthetic. However, the ongoing RAM and storage supply issues driven in part by AI demand have pushed its price up significantly, from Php 179,995 to Php 219,995 for the configuration with an Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 265KF and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070.

Despite the price increase, I still find the ROG G700 to be a good value for a prebuilt gaming desktop from ASUS. You get the peace of mind of a 3-year local warranty with onsite support, which is a major advantage for users who want a hassle-free ownership experience.

Performance is another strong point. The hardware delivers plenty of gaming performance without running into excessive temperatures, while the chassis still provides room for future upgrades. You can add more storage or RAM, and if prices eventually come down or newer GPUs become available, there is also the potential to upgrade the system further.

Overall, the ROG G700 offers a solid combination of performance, design, warranty coverage, and upgradeability. It has more than enough power for today’s games while giving you some room to keep up with future titles.

The ROG G700 with an Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 265KF, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070, 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD, 2x 16GB DDR5 U-DIMM RAM, is priced at Php 219,995 and it comes also with Windows 11 Home and Office Home 2024 + Microsoft 365 Basic.
