AMD Unleashes Ryzen Threadripper 9000 and Radeon AI PRO to Redefine Workstation Computing

AMD has officially launched its groundbreaking Ryzen Threadripper 9000 Series processors and Radeon 9000 Series GPUs, setting a new standard for high-performance workstations across creative, scientific, industrial, and AI workloads.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series

With the introduction of the Ryzen Threadripper 9000 Series, AMD continues to lead the workstation CPU segment. Headlined by the flagship Threadripper PRO 9995WX, the new processors feature up to 96 Zen 5 cores and 192 threads, offering a significant generational performance leap over their predecessors. These chips boast support for DDR5-6400 memory, PCIe 5.0, and up to 480MB of total system cache, delivering elite performance for applications like VFX rendering, product design, architecture modeling, and AI development.

According to AMD, the 9995WX delivers up to 26% higher performance compared to the previous-gen 7995WX in real-world applications such as Autodesk Maya, V-Ray, Adobe After Effects, and Unreal Engine 5.5 compilation. Even more impressively, the new Threadripper 9980X delivers up to 108% more performance than Intel’s Xeon W9-3595X across a wide range of content creation and scientific workloads.

Alongside the CPU launch, AMD also unveiled the Radeon AI PRO R9700, a next-gen professional GPU built on the new RDNA 4 architecture. Featuring 128 AI accelerators, 32GB of GDDR6 memory, and up to 765 TOPS (INT4), the R9700 delivers supercharged AI performance, ideal for LLM inference, visual computing, and multi-GPU scalability with support for up to 180 concurrent AI instances.

AMD emphasized the ecosystem scalability of its new platform, offering support for high-density memory, massive PCIe bandwidth, and integrated security with SME (Secure Memory Encryption), AES-256-XTS, and a hardware root-of-trust. The entire 9000 Series is drop-in compatible with existing sTR5 platforms, simplifying upgrades for professionals.

Key Highlights:

  • Threadripper 9995WX: Up to 96 cores / 192 threads, 384MB L3 cache, 5.4GHz boost, 350W TDP
  • Radeon AI PRO R9700: 191 TFLOPS FP16, 1531 TOPS INT4, 128 AI accelerators, PCIe 5.0
  • Up to 26% generational uplift in CPU performance across creative and professional applications
  • Up to 765.5 TOPS INT4 performance for AI workloads
