The Gigabyte Gaming A16 steps into the crowded mid-range gaming laptop space to deliver strong, modern performance without the premium price tag. It provides smooth high refresh-rate gaming on its spacious 16-inch display while keeping a relatively sleek and minimalistic design. It doesn’t try to reinvent the category but instead focuses on getting the fundamentals right.

Unboxing and Overview
The Gigabyte Gaming A16 comes with a simple cardboard suitcase-style box with the model’s name in front as well as the motto “Game It All”. The sides feature the laptop’s specifications while the back contains the safety certifications and warning labels about the battery. Being a suitcase-style design, it’s best to open the box lying flat on a table.
Opening the box, the A16 sits on top protected by a cloth cover. Underneath, the packaging is divided into three compartments: the sides contain the charging cables, while the center contains the manual and warranty papers.
Keyboard Design
The keyboard design for the Gigabyte Gaming A16 is simple yet everything is functional and designed accurately. The keyboard utilizes Gigabyte’s Golden Curve design technology, all keycaps have a 0.15mm concave shape, making it somehow grippier than a normal flat shape. The keys also have an actuation force of around 55-60g, reducing keypress fatigue while keeping its tactility feedback responsive.

The FN key is on the left side of the keyboard between the left CTRL and Window keys, making FN shortcuts with the F-keys easier and doable with one hand. The right side features the dedicated Windows Co-Pilot key. Beside the F12 key is a dedicated Gigabyte’s GiMATE AI Assistant, providing additional agent to your everyday needs. The power button is placed distantly above the F7 key, making accidental press impossible. It has also a different click feedback compared to the tactility of the keyboard.
All of the keys are illuminated, and the LED color and brightness are controllable via the RGB Fusion 2.0 app. The app also enables the keys to support macros.
Port Selection
The port selection on the Gigabyte Gaming A16 offers the most ports needed for gaming. The left side includes the power port, an 1G LAN port, 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, and 1 USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C. The right side includes 2 more USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, as well as the audio jack.

Display
The Gigabyte Gaming A16 CMH comes with a 16-inch 1920×1200 WUXGA IPS display that strikes a solid balance between smoothness and clarity for both gaming and everyday use. With a 165Hz refresh rate, it delivers noticeably smoother motion in fast-paced games, and the IPS technology ensures wide viewing angles and accurate colors.

While it’s not a premium QHD or OLED panel, the brightness and color consistency are sufficient for most indoor gaming and content creation tasks, and the larger 16-inch screen gives a more immersive experience without making the laptop overly bulky.
Cooling
The Gigabyte Gaming A16 offers multiple cooling vents between the sides as well as the rear face of the bottom panel. While the top panel of the laptop is 25cm wide, the bottom panel has an offset of 2cm to accommodate the exhaust fans and for the user not to feel the heat while gaming.
During benchmarking, the only noticeable warmth on the Gigabyte Gaming A16 is on the sides of the keyboard, as well as the top part where the power button resides. The fan cools the areas fast so nothing to worry about. This makes gaming sessions comfortable when playing for long periods of time.
Under The Hood
After removing 11 screws and popping the bottom panel, the components are revealed and shows that there are extra slots for both RAM and M.2 SSD (marked with #2). For the RAM limitation, it can only accommodate up to 64GB in total.

Benchmarks
Since our review unit came with almost no other apps installed, the only thing needed to update is the version of the Nvidia Game Ready Driver to v595.97.
Synthetic Benchmarks
All synthetic benchmark tools were run three times, then averaged the results
The Cinebench 2026 is the latest version of the Maxon benchmarking tool. It measures the performance using industry-leading 3D technology from Maxon, including Cinema 4D and Redshift.
| Cinebench 2026 | Single Core | Single Thread | Multi-Core | GPU |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Run 1 | 566 | 440 | 2,599 | 33,532 |
| Run 2 | 563 | 438 | 2,795 | 33,837 |
| Run 3 | 567 | 440 | 2,757 | 33,836 |
| Averages | 565.33 | 439.33 | 2,656.33 | 33,735 |
Next on our suite is 3D Mark Steel Nomad, Time Spy Extreme, and Time Spy. Steel Nomad is 3DMark’s latest benchmarking tool that pushes graphics cards with next-gen visuals, complex lighting, and heavy workloads. It’s designed to show how well a system can handle the latest and upcoming AAA games at ultra settings.
On the other hand, Time Spy and Time Spy Extreme are the last-generation benchmarking tool of 3DMark. They are only capable of testing both CPU and GPU performance of DX12, non-ray tracing games. Time Spy benchmarks in 1440p gaming while Time Spy Extreme does it at 4k
| Steel Nomad | Time Spy | Time Spy Extreme | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Run 1 | 1,696 | 7,597 | 3,557 |
| Run 2 | 1,731 | 7,575 | 3,530 |
| Run 3 | 1,743 | 7,565 | 3,525 |
| Averages | 1,723.33 | 7,579 | 3,537.33 |
Lastly, CrystalDiskMark is used to benchmark how fast are the read and write speeds of the M.2 NVMe SSD within the Gigabyte Gaming A16. In this benchmark, the tests were run at 1GB, 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB.
Game Benchmarks
Games were tested on a 15-minute in game run. This ensures of what FPS to expect when getting this laptop. Cutscenes are skipped whenever possible to prevent skewing to higher results.
Video / Graphics settings were set to Ultra preset, 2560 x 1440p resolution, borderless windowed. Games that DLSS have been set to Performance mode.

Battery Testing
The 2-hour battery test provides a practical snapshot of how the Gigabyte Gaming A16 CMH consumes power under a real-world workload. By monitoring the drop from 100% to 54% while playing a 4K YouTube video, the test illustrates the laptop’s energy demands during media playback.
Due to the nature of Nvidia Optimus, gaming while on batteries doesn’t use the RTX 4050 graphics but rather relies on the Intel UHD Graphics. This can be disabled via the Gigabyte Control Center app. For the gaming test, I’ve used DOTA2 and the batteries dropped from 100% down to 34% using the UHD Graphics.
This approach helps contextualize battery life for everyday usage scenarios and highlights how power-hungry high-resolution games and media can impact battery time.
Conclusion and Recommendations
The Gigabyte Gaming A16 is a great mid-range gaming laptop that punches above its weight class, combining modern hardware with a sleek, refined design. Paired with either AMD Ryzen or Intel Core processors and NVIDIA’s RTX 40-series or the newer 50-series laptop GPUs, this laptop delivers smooth 1080p to 1440p gaming performance with support for DLSS and ray tracing.
Aside from the Microsoft installation defaults, the only additional software installed are Gigabyte GiMATE and Dolby Access. With only a 512GB NVMe SSD installed, additional softwares might be needed to be uninstalled to accommodate the ever-growing game file sizes. Alternatively, adding in a second M.2 SSD would greatly benefit the space problem.
Overall, the Gigabyte Gaming A16 is recommended for users who want reliable, well-cooled gaming performance in a clean, understated design, but not necessarily premium materials or top-tier build quality.
The Gigabyte Gaming A16 CMH is available at stores with a starting price of P59,990. As of time writing, here are some stores that offer this laptop model:
