This is our first time checking out a COLORFUL motherboard, and we were surprised when they sent us the iGame X870E VULCAN W OC V14, as this is their flagship motherboard for the AM5 platform.
COLORFUL has previously focused on other segments of the motherboard market, but the company is now making a stronger push into the enthusiast space with the iGame series. The first model was the iGame X870E VULCAN OC V14, which was introduced last year and came in black. Our review unit, the iGame X870E VULCAN W OC V14, is the white version that was recently announced at COMPUTEX 2026.
While both models share the same enthusiast-focused foundation, there are some differences between them, particularly in the PCIe slot speed and overall design.
With that said, let’s take a closer look at COLORFUL’s flagship AM5 motherboard and see what the iGame X870E VULCAN W OC V14 has to offer.

What’s on the box?

The iGame X870E VULCAN W OC V14 comes in a huge box for a motherboard, and it is also quite heavy. The box has a sleeve where you can see the motherboard’s features and specifications before opening it.
Moving to the main box, COLORFUL continues the premium presentation. As you open the lid, the motherboard itself lifts up, giving the unboxing a more impressive feel right from the start.
The motherboard is protected by thick foam, and once you lift the board and its tray, you will find another box underneath containing the accessories. The accessory package is much more generous than what we normally see included with a motherboard.
Inside the box, you get plenty of thermal pads in different sizes for the M.2 slots, four SATA cables, and additional M.2 screws and standoffs. Interestingly, though, the motherboard itself only has two SATA ports.
COLORFUL also includes additional motherboard standoff screws in case your PC case does not have enough to accommodate the board, along with a front-panel pin guide, a USB flash drive containing the motherboard drivers, a metal motherboard magnet, a screw set, gloves, a GPU support stand, and a magnetic Wi-Fi antenna.
There are also stickers, user guides, and a letter included in the box.
COLORFUL really went all out with the unboxing experience of its flagship motherboard. There are plenty of accessories included, and even some small extras that you would not normally expect to see.
So far, COLORFUL has given us a flagship experience with the unboxing. Now, let’s see if the motherboard itself can continue that impression.
Build & Design

The first thing that stands out about the iGame X870E VULCAN W OC V14 is, obviously, the white finish.
The white PCB is matched with white heatsinks, shrouds, and a full-coverage rear backplate. COLORFUL also gives the first M.2 slot its own dedicated heatsink, while the remaining M.2 slots share a larger heatsink that also helps cool the chipset. For the bottom PCIe slot, COLORFUL uses a white plastic cover. Overall, there is very little of the actual PCB exposed, giving the motherboard a clean and premium look.
The board uses a 10-layer PCB with 2oz copper, immersion gold, and back-drilled vias. COLORFUL has also given the white V14 a more elaborate surface treatment compared with the black version.

One design detail I really like is how the connectors on the right side of the motherboard are side-mounted. This allows the cables to run along the edge of the board, helping keep the cable management clean and making the finished build look less cluttered.

You will also immediately notice the LCD screen on the motherboard, which COLORFUL calls the VULCAN Smart LCD. Through the iGame Center software, it can display system information, monitoring data, and other graphics, giving you another way to customize the motherboard.

Interestingly, the RGB lighting is fairly restrained. The main illuminated areas are around the VRM heatsink and the LCD panel.

I personally like this approach. The white motherboard already has plenty of visual presence on its own, so adding excessive RGB lighting could have made the overall design look unnecessarily busy. Instead, the subtle lighting complements the white finish and keeps the motherboard looking clean.
Built For Overclocking

COLORFUL really designed the motherboard around overclocking.
Starting with the simple features that you would normally find inside the BIOS, COLORFUL has gone a step further by putting several controls directly on the motherboard. This makes it much easier for enthusiasts to make quick adjustments and recover from failed overclocking attempts.

The motherboard comes with dedicated POWER, RESET, and RETRY buttons. The RETRY button is particularly useful when an overclocking attempt fails. It forces the system to restart while retaining the same settings, allowing you to quickly retry the configuration. This can be useful when the system fails to complete its startup self-test.
There is also a two-digit POST code display, diagnostic LEDs, and physical voltage measurement points, giving overclockers more ways to monitor and troubleshoot the system.
At the bottom of the motherboard, you will find even more controls, including BCLK+ and BCLK- buttons, a SAFE BOOT button, SLOW MODE switch, LN2 MODE switch, and a Dual BIOS switch.
Looking at all these features, it is clear that COLORFUL designed the VULCAN W OC V14 with overclockers in mind. Most regular gamers will probably never use many of these controls, but for enthusiasts who want to push their CPU and memory to their limits, having these features directly on the motherboard can make the process much easier.
Features & Connectivity

Even if it’s an overclocking motherboard, COLORFUL has not neglected to cater to other people who don’t do overclocking.

The iGame X870E VULCAN W OC V14 has five (5) M.2 slots, two (2) of it is PCIe 5.0×4 and three (3) are PCIe 4.0×4. All of the M.2 slots support a toolless locking mechanism. There are also two (2) SATA 6Gb/s ports for people who want to use their hard drives.
COLORFUL also made a VGA Snap-Fit on its top PCIe slot to quickly release the graphics card when needed.

Going to its rear ports of the board, there is your One-Click OC, BIOS Update, and Clear CMOS buttons, there are two USB 2.0 and a PS/2 port that is useful for overclockers as they tend to use it rather than using the USB port for there keyboard, it also have four (4) USB-A 5G ports, another four (4) USB-A 10G ports, two (2) USB4 40G Type-C ports, Wi-Fi 7, 5G Ethernet port, and two 3.5mm Audio I/O and S/PDIF Digital Audio.
Sadly, there is no HDMI or DisplayPort, but the two (2) Type-C ports support video output, up to 4K @ 60Hz resolution.
Checking the BIOS

The BIOS is one of the most important parts of a motherboard designed for overclocking, and COLORFUL gives users plenty of options to work with.
When we enter the BIOS, we are greeted by the iGame-themed interface. The Simple Mode is straightforward and minimalist, which I really like. COLORFUL did not bombard the screen with unnecessary graphics or information. Instead, it focuses on the things you actually need.
Right away, you can see System Information, DRAM State, Disk Information, Fan Profile, Boot Order, EZ OC, and other important settings. Everything is easy to see at a glance, making the Simple Mode useful for users who just want to check their system or make basic adjustments.
If you want more control, you can switch to Advanced Mode, where you get access to the motherboard’s more extensive settings, including the different options for CPU, memory, voltage, and overclocking.
One useful feature is the live hardware monitor displayed alongside the BIOS settings. This allows you to keep an eye on CPU temperature, frequency, memory voltage, BCLK, and other system information while making changes.

The Main Panel is another interesting addition. It provides a visual representation of the motherboard and shows which connections and components are currently populated.
This is particularly useful on a motherboard with five M.2 slots and a large number of headers, as you can quickly see which slots and connections are being used.
For CPU tuning, the BIOS provides COLORFUL’s X3D A.I Turbo presets alongside AMD’s Precision Boost Overdrive controls. Users can also access Curve Optimizer, Boost Clock Override, Scalar, BCLK settings, and other advanced options.

Memory tuning is even more extensive. You can adjust the memory frequency, FCLK, UCLK mode, voltages, and timings, while the deeper menus provide access to secondary and tertiary memory timings.
There are a lot of options available here, especially if you are planning to manually tune your CPU and memory.
The main weakness, however, is the organization. With so many settings available, some options are not always grouped together in the most intuitive way. Some settings are found under COLORFUL’s own menus, while others are located inside AMD’s Overclocking section.

The iGameCenter software is the companion application for the iGame X870E VULCAN W OC V14. It is currently available only for Windows and comes in two versions: the main version and a Lite version. We downloaded the main version to explore all the features and controls it offers.

iGameCenter provides most of the tools you need to monitor and control the system, including hardware information, system monitoring, RGB lighting, fan speeds, and the VULCAN Smart Screen. It also includes additional features, such as the Game section, which estimates the FPS you can expect based on your hardware at three different resolutions: 1080p, 1440p, and 4K.
Another useful feature is the Hardware Overlay, which displays real-time system information directly on your screen. This includes FPS, CPU and GPU utilization, clock speeds, temperatures, and other hardware information. This can be useful when monitoring system performance while gaming or running demanding workloads.
The software can also scan your system for available hardware drivers. If it finds a driver that needs to be installed or updated, you can download and install it directly through iGameCenter instead of having to manually search for each driver.
Testing it out

To properly test the motherboard, we first had to build a complete system around it. We used the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D, which is a great match for the iGame X870E VULCAN W OC V14 since the motherboard is designed with enthusiasts and X3D processors in mind.

We monitored the motherboard temperatures using HWMonitor, and overall, we were happy with the results. During our Cinebench R23 test, the motherboard temperature reached a maximum of 46°C, while the chipset temperatures peaked at 52.6°C and 58°C. The Ryzen 7 9850X3D was also able to boost up to 5.4GHz, although the CPU cooler appeared to be the limiting factor, as the processor was reaching close to 90°C under load.
For memory, we used the AGI TurboJet UD858 DDR5-6400 kit. The system detected the memory without any issues, and we were able to run it at its rated 6400MT/s simply by enabling AMD EXPO. COLORFUL claims that the motherboard can support memory speeds of up to 10,600+ MT/s when overclocked with Ryzen 8000-series processors, while Ryzen 9000-series processors like the one we are using support up to 8,800+ MT/s, and Ryzen 7000-series processors support up to 8,000+ MT/s.

For storage, we used the TeamGroup T-Force GA Pro PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD. We were able to reach the speeds advertised by TeamGroup, recording 10,364.14 MB/s read and 8,851.64 MB/s write speeds. Despite the high performance, temperatures remained under control, with the SSD reaching a peak of 55°C and averaging around 48°C during our testing. The large M.2 heatsink appears to be doing its job well.
COLORFUL iGame X870E VULCAN W OC V14 Verdict

The COLORFUL iGame X870E VULCAN W OC V14 is an impressive motherboard and definitely feels like a flagship product. However, it is also a very specific kind of motherboard.
If you are looking for a conventional X870E motherboard with four DIMM slots, plenty of SATA ports, and maximum expansion flexibility, this probably isn’t the board for you.
But if you are an enthusiast who enjoys pushing your CPU and DDR5 memory, the VULCAN W OC V14 becomes much more interesting. COLORFUL clearly designed this motherboard with overclocking in mind, from its 18+2+2 110A power delivery and large VRM heatsinks to the two-DIMM memory layout, external clock generator, BCLK controls, voltage measurement points, dual BIOS, and recovery buttons.
The white design is also one of its strongest visual features. The white PCB, full-cover heatsinks, rear backplate, and VULCAN Smart LCD give it a distinctive look compared with the usual black and gray X870E motherboards.
Of course, there are some compromises. The two-DIMM configuration limits memory expansion, there are only two SATA ports, the secondary PCIe slot is limited to PCIe 3.0 x4, and the BIOS could do a better job of organizing some of its settings.
However, these compromises make more sense once you understand what COLORFUL is trying to achieve with this motherboard.
The iGame X870E VULCAN W OC V14 isn’t designed to be the most practical X870E motherboard for everyone. It is designed to be a playground for enthusiasts.
With its extensive overclocking controls, strong thermal performance, high-speed memory support, and distinctive white design, COLORFUL has built a motherboard that feels worthy of the VULCAN name and its flagship position.
As of writing, the COLORFUL iGame X870E VULCAN W OC V14 is not yet officially available in the Philippines, as availability outside China remains limited. It is priced at 3,999 RMB, which is roughly $595.86 USD or Php 37,417.68.
If you’re interested in getting one, we recommend checking with your local COLORFUL representative or authorized retailers for availability and local pricing.
