Protect My Home From Unreliable Internet img

Many people who work from home or work from anywhere know what it feels like when the internet drops at the worst time. A disconnect during a meeting. A spike of lag that freezes your presentation. A sudden outage marks you as offline or unproductive in your company dashboard. For remote workers, these moments are more than a small inconvenience. They can affect attendance records, performance ratings, and even how your manager sees your reliability.

This is why I built my own protection system for my home internet. I think of it like a personal Infinity Gauntlet for work. Each internet source is a stone. Together, they form a powerful shield that keeps me online even when one provider fails.

Here is how the system works and why it is an important form of insurance for anyone who depends on stable internet for their livelihood.

The idea behind my work protection setup

Instead of depending on one provider, I use several. My main fiber line is the core. I then add backup LTE routers. I also use USB tethering from my eSIM postpaid phone. All of these feed into one device that combines them into one connection.

If one line goes down or becomes weak, the others take over instantly. I do not get flagged as idle. My meetings continue. My tools stay green. Everything feels normal.

This protects my attendance and productivity metrics.

The device that holds everything together

All of my internet sources plug into my ER605. It is a small but powerful router that accepts different types of connections.

Here is what it allows me to do:

  1. 1. Use my fiber line as the main source
    • This is my primary internet for work.
  2. Add LTE modem routers as backup providers
    • These kick in when fiber drops or slows down.
  3. Use USB tethering from my postpaid eSIM phone
    • This is a strong emergency source when everything else is down.
  4. Combine all providers using load balancing
    • The ER605 intelligently distributes traffic and switches between sources without interrupting my work.

Once set up, it works on its own.

Sending the stable connection through strong Wi Fi

After the ER605 fuses all connections, I send the final output to my ASUS AX 1800HP mesh system. I use two units connected by a dual LAN backhaul. This covers my 100 square-meter home with stable and consistent Wi-Fi.

A wired backhaul keeps the mesh units connected through cables instead of wireless signals. This gives better speed and fewer issues.

The result is a smooth network ready for:

  • Online meetings
  • Remote access
  • Virtual training
  • Cloud-based work
  • Productivity tools
  • Business calls

Even during outages, the house stays online.

Why this matters for remote professionals

Many remote workers are evaluated based on uptime, presence, and call quality. A weak provider can create unfair marks on your record. A moment of lag can make you look unprepared. A short outage can lower your adherence or productivity score.

By using multiple providers in one system, you protect yourself from these problems. The switches happen so quickly that your monitoring tools never see you drop.

This gives you:

  • Cleaner attendance
  • Uninterrupted meetings
  • Fewer performance issues
  • Stronger reliability
  • Protection for your work reputation

It is a simple and effective insurance plan for anyone working remotely.
