The Design and Features

ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Pro Itself

The ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Pro has a similar design to other models, featuring eight non-removable antennas surrounding the body. However, the updated top design includes a calligram of the ROG logo, which I really like. It gives the router a true ‘Pro’ feel

The ports that we got with the ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Pro are substantial as there is a 1x 2.5G WAN port, 1x 10G WAN/LAN port, 4x 1G LAN ports, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, and 1x USB 2.0 port. Why are there two 5GHz LED indicators? It is for dedicated backhaul connection having still full tri-band access for your devices connected to. It is also for the AIMesh to improve signal efficiency and capacity for roaming and coverage. If you have another ASUS router that has AIMesh feature, you can set it up to have a better coverage with seamless coverage that makes your place without dead zones.

Aside from the AIMesh that can boost your WiFi coverage, it also features a RangeBoost Plus which boasts its expanded signal range and overall coverage by up to 38% on their website.

Since it’s a gaming router, it comes with features that are highly beneficial for gamersIt offers triple-level game acceleration, including jitter prevention, lag reduction, and ping improvement. This means it optimizes gaming devices, prioritizes game packets, and even provides a gamer VPN for the shortest path to the game server. All these features come packed in the ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Pro router.

For Game Server Acceleration, the router uses WTFast, which operates directly on the router rather than through your computer. It also features AdGuard, which you’ll need to log into via AdGuard DNS to enable. Just a heads up—these are third-party services, so you’ll need a paid subscription for full access.

Setting up the ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Pro is easy and straightforward. You have the option to set it up via your desktop or mobile app, and you can choose to connect it either wired or wirelessly.

The setup procedure is easy to follow, guiding you through configuring admin access, Wi-Fi settings, and other router features.

The Router Interface

Let us just quickly rundown its setting interface after setting it up.

When you access the router’s browser settings, the first thing you’ll see is the dashboard. It provides an overview of the router’s status, including network traffic, ping, and ping deviation. You can also configure the Aura RGB lighting from this dashboard.

In the general menu, you’ll find options like AiMesh, AiProtection, Parental Controls, Game Acceleration, Open NAT, Game Radar, VPN, and Traffic Analyzer. The advanced settings allow for manual configuration of the router, including options for Wireless settings, Guest Network, and other configurations.

The mobile app provides a similar experience, letting you adjust the Aura RGB settings, view your AiMesh Wi-Fi system, and access extra features like Mobile Game Mode. This mode optimizes your network for better connectivity and gives priority to your device when you enable it.

It also shows its port status and other insights for the router. Same with the browser settings, you can access its general menu settings and advanced settings.

Our Experience

The internet we used for testing out the capabilities in our office is capable of 600 Mbps download and upload speed. The current setup before the ROG router came is that we were  using the default router that the ISP gave us.

When we used the router for the first time, we immediately noticed that websites were loading faster. To confirm this, we ran a speed test on Speedtest.net and found that the ROG router significantly outperformed our default ISP router. With the ROG router, we achieved a download speed of 566.91 Mbps and an upload speed of 598.61 Mbps, while the default router only managed 141.31 Mbps for downloads and 221.65 Mbps for uploads.

In our usual spot in the office, I typically get only 2 to 3 bars of Wi-Fi signal with the default ISP router. However, with the ROG router, I consistently enjoy a full signal, allowing websites to load quickly.

Usually, when I go down to the 3rd floor of our building, I lose the signal completely with the default router. This time, though, the ROG router still gave me 3 bars of Wi-Fi signal on my smartphone.
